What this service does
Charsetlint is a diagnostic tool that fetches a URL you supply and reads the character encoding declarations from the server's response. It is stateless — no accounts, no sign-up, no user profiles.
Data the service receives
- The URL you submit is sent to the server as a
POST /api/checkrequest body. The server fetches that URL and returns the diagnosis. After the response is sent, no record of the URL is kept. - Client-side preference: Your choice of light or dark theme is stored in
localStoragein your browser. This data never leaves your device.
What the service does NOT do
- No accounts. No sign-up, no login, no user IDs.
- No cookies. No tracking pixels, no analytics scripts, no third-party embeds.
- No server-side logging. The Worker does not write to any database, log file, or external service.
- No data sharing. Because no data is retained, no data can be shared.
- No email collection. There is no newsletter, no contact form, no mailing list.
Cloudflare
This service is hosted on Cloudflare Workers. Cloudflare may process metadata (IP address, request headers) as part of its normal CDN and edge-compute operations. Cloudflare's privacy policy applies to that processing.
Third-party fonts
This site loads the IBM Plex font family from Google Fonts. Google Fonts may receive your IP address when the font is requested. Google's privacy policy governs that data.
Your rights
Because no personal data is stored by this service, there is no data to access, correct, delete, or export. If you have questions about privacy, contact the operator. The operator currently has no registered address or legal identity to receive formal requests; this section will be updated when one exists.
